new jehovah's witness?

i am deceiding on becoming a jehovah's witness, but i need for information on the whole religion.

i need to talk to someone and ask questions.

what do i do?

There has been some very good advice given here. Glad to hear you aren't really considering becoming a JW.
Just to clear up one point. Many here aren't active JW's but were at one time. For instance, I was one for about 38 years.
You can walk into a KH and go to the literature desk and request a specific publication. They are not supposed to refuse you. Live Forever Book, and Reasoning Book are good suggestions.
Crises of Conscience cannot be purchased at a KH. So don't ask, it will raise red flags. You can get it at a good book store or online.
All of these pubs. will help you get a grasp on their doctrine.

Who is an atheist here, just wondering?

Spec,
I believe there is some sort of higher being. But not a God such as most mainstream religions teach. That would be a judgmental god, and I don't believe there would be judgment based on doctrinal issue.
I believe people would be accepted for who they are not what they believe.

she says, the other day i went to the local religious book store, where i saw a "honk if you love jesus" bumper sticker.

i bought it and put it on the back bumper of my car and i'm really glad i did.

I must echo RHW's comments. Somehow that didn't work for me. Many of the elder's I knew did practice policing. And many pretended to be professional counselor's and marriage counselor's.
In my experience, they offered a lot of platitudes and no real solutions.
For instance in the case of an abusive marriage mate, they once said "if just one of the mates is applying bible principles it will make it a better marriage".
I can think of many other examples of the elder's interference causing more harm than good.
After re-reading the quote from the WT, I also think it is making reference to the fact that there is a common way of speaking of the elders policing.

I second that thought. As an only girl raised with three brothers, I find relationships and intelligent conversations with men very stimulating. It seemed like in the Borg, the men ran from that.
That is a freedom I really enjoy now!!
